Blake and Dillon II

"Heaven is a place where nothing ever happens".

When our youngest son, Rob, was in his late teens, he used to sing that song. I made no protest, but it bothered me to treat heaven in that way. I've always thought that heaven is infinitely more active than anything that happens on this side.

But Blake would have had no problem with the song; in fact he agreed with it. He often tells us that no thing happens in Heaven; there is no thing in heaven. Things are material, and in Heaven we're delivered from all that.

But in Heaven love happens.
In Heaven joy happens.
In Heaven peace happens.
These are not things, but realities that Blake valued, and perhaps Dillon, too.

Of course there's always a bit of Hell both in Blake and in Dillon. Blake was delivered from it in 1828, and some day Dillon will be, too. And some day you and I will be,too.
